Moving House The DIY Method
DIY Home Moving.
So you are moving home and have
decided to try and save a few dollars by not hiring a firm of
professional movers, but instead doing it yourself? Well before you
head off the your local U-Hall here are a few things you may wish to
consider.
MANPOWER
First of all its going to take manpower, and I mean a lot of
manpower. It's OK Big Bob from down the road saying that he is happy
to help out, but is he willing to stick with the job until its done?
Then you are going to need some serious trucking power. Chances are
unless you have got your Class One drivers license and the use of a
big rig you are going to have to be happy with a box van. That means
multiple journeys and a lot more time and effort to get things done.
INSURANCE
Another thing to consider is the insurance aspect. No matter how
well you pack things accidents happen. Are you really happy to move
that 66" TV or 6ft crystal storage unit by yourself? If so, are you
happy to make a claim on "your" insurance in the event it arrives in
more pieces than it started out in?
TIME
Last but not least, do you have the time its going to take to do
everything yourself? If not than perhaps hiring some professional
help might not be such a bad idea after all.
Like I said, when it comes to the
moving thing I have been there and have the scars to prove it. If I
can help you learn from my own experiences please don't be afraid to
