The CHR disclosed that the following conditions to exist in and about the above noted food establishment which are or may become injurious or dangerous to the public health or which might hinder the prevention or suppression of disease, namely:

a. Bacteriological well water sampling indicated two consecutive samples contaminated

with total coliform bacteria.

b. The well pit surrounding the well casing is submerged in approximately one and one-half feet of water/effluent. The integrity of the well casing and the seal around the well casings in question.

c. The exterior of the well house is backfilled with clean rock .The gutters and downspouts on the well house and adjoining building are missing or damaged. These conditions can easily allow surface water or effluent to run into the well pit, thus resulting in possible well water contamination.

d. A pitless adapter is not provided on the well according to Kevin Kurtz, business owner.

e. A backflow preventer is not provided in the well water distribution system according to Kevin Kurtz, business owner.

f. The building water distribution line and junction from the well are submerged under the water in the well pit.

g. The above conditions create a situation where contamination of the water system is likely.

AND WHEREAS such inspection disclosed that the following breaches of the Public Health Act and the Food Regulation, Alberta Regulation 31/2006 exist in and about the above noted food establishment, namely:

a. Unsatisfactory bacteriological well water sample results indicate an unsafe water source which contravenes Section 17 (1) (f) (i) of the Food Regulations and 2.10 of the Food Code.

b. There is no back-flow preventer or similar device installed in the water distribution system. This contravenes Sections 2(6) & (17) (1) (f) (i) of the Food Regulations and 2.12 (c) of the Food Code.

c. There is approximately one and one-half feet of water/effluent in the well pit. This contravenes Sections 2 (6) & 17 (1) (a) of the Food Regulations and 2.10 of the Food

Code.

d. Inadequate precautions to protect the water supply from potential contamination

contravene Sections 2 (6) & 17 (1) (f) (i) of the Food Regulations and 2.12 (c) of the

Food Code.
