Falconridge Sexual Assaults - Man Charged

The Calgary Police Service Sex Crimes Unit has charged a Calgary man in connection with sexual assaults that occurred in the Falconridge area on March 18, 2006, April 8, 2006, and May 10, 2006, as well as a break-in and sexual assault in the Brentwood area on July 15, 2006.
Andrew Aurie JEFFERSON, 21, has been charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts of sexual assault with a weapon, three counts of unlawful confinement, three counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, and one count of house break and enter and committing an indictable offence (sexual assault).
JEFFERSON was arrested by RCMP in Penticton, B.C., on Tuesday, August 1, 2006, on an outstanding warrant for one count of house break and enter and committing an indictable offence (sexual assault). He was transported to Calgary on the evening of Friday, August 4, 2006, where the Calgary Police Service laid the additional charges.
This investigation, led by the Calgary Police Service Sex Crimes Unit, was a Service-wide effort, involving many CPS Districts and Units, including District #3 and District #5.
The Calgary Police Service say they greatly appreciates the valuable assistance of the victims, in coming forward to report these crimes. We thank the media and the citizens of Calgary for their help in generating over 150 tips. We also thank the Edmonton RCMP forensic lab for their expedited service, as well as the Penticton RCMP for making the arrest and assisting in the investigation.
